Outside the new building of the National Coach Museum you can find an exhibition with the works of the 15 finalists of the LUCCA PROJECT CONTEST Contest – Giovanni Martinelli Award and the winning project of the 2019 contest.
Organization: Italian Cultural Institute of Lisbon in collaboration with the National Coach Museum.
The Lucca Project Contest is a national competition open to aspiring comic book authors, organized by Lucca Comics & Games and now in its sixteenth edition. Every year, about two hundred young authors submit their projects to a jury composed by comics professionals who will choose among them fifteen finalists.
The winning project will be officially published by Edizioni BD, publishing partner of the Project Contest. Most of the previous Project Contest winners and finalists are now established professionals.
Over the years, the Project Contest has established itself as a privileged observation point on the state of the art of young Italian creativity, and therefore on the state of health of Italian comics in general.
Today, on the occasion of the XX Week of the Italian Language in the World, whose theme is “Italian Between Word and Image: Graffiti, Illustrations, Comic Books”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation adopts the Project Contest to promote and enhance abroad the new Italian comics through the Italian Cultural Institutes network.
